Biography
Kelly Lee Osbourne was born in London, England, on October 27, 1984. She's the daughter of heavy metal pioneer John "Ozzy" Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy's longtime manager and wife. Kelly has four siblings: Jessica Starshine and Louis Osbourne, born in 1972 and 1975, respectively, are from Ozzy's former marriage, while Aimee and Jack Osbourne, born in 1983 and 1986, are Kelly's full siblings. To say that Kelly had an unusual upbringing would be an understatement. She was born during Ozzy's 1980s comeback heyday, and spent as much time in hotel rooms while her father was on tour, as s
he did in the English countryside being traditionally schooled. As a result, Kelly and the rest of the Osbournes became unusually combative and frank, but close, too.In 1995, the Osbournes made a permanent relocation to Los Angeles, a strategic move from which Ozzy was to make his next comeback. But home life continued to be dysfunctional, and Kelly dropped out of school by the tenth grade.

During her teen years, Kelly, along with her younger brother, Jack, made more and more public appearances with her father, and people began to take note of their brash dynamic. Soon MTV saw the potential for a series based on the quirky clan, and in March 2002 The Osbournes debuted, featuring Ozzy, Kelly, Jack, and mother Sharon (older sister Aimee refused to take part). At first, Kelly felt that having cameras in the Osbourne home made her feel "uncomfortable and violated," but she soon got over her initial trepidation and settled into her usual devil-may-care habits. Viewers picked up on the brutal honesty of Kelly and her family, and the show was an immediate hit. Encouraged by sister Aimee, Kelly went on to record a version of Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach," which sounded so good that it was included on The Osbourne Family Album, a record quickly released to cash in on the show's success.

When "Papa Don't Preach" became a hit single on its own, Kelly landed her own record deal, and her first album, Shut Up!, hit stores in November 2002. However, Shut Up! failed to ignite listeners, and Kelly was dropped by her record label, Epic. She was picked up by Sanctuary, and Shut Up! was reissued as Changes in September 2003 with some new material, including a duet with Ozzy of the title Black Sabbath track. A planned tour in 2003 and work on her second album was stalled by Kelly's drug problem. Hooked on painkillers and other pills, she checked into the Promises treatment clinic in Malibu, in April 2004. Kelly received a great deal of support from her family, as both Ozzy and Jack had already been through rehab. Kelly emerged from treatment more focused on her next album, and preparing for her role in the fall 2004 ABC drama called Life As We Know It.
